Frequently Asked Questions
How Atlas Works
Answers about in-home education, care support, and getting started.
Atlas offers education, family navigation, and nonmedical support. Education Navigators do not provide ABA, speech, occupational, physical, or mental health therapy. With your permission, we can use provider recommendations to support learning and daily routines.
We begin with the student’s interests, current skills, communication, and family goals. An Education Navigator adapts hands-on learning around practical goals such as fine motor practice, executive function, daily living, and community participation. Sessions generally happen in the family home, and families get ideas to use between visits.
Yes. Private pay may be an option. Step Up for Students and other authorized funding may apply to specific services. Coverage and reimbursement depend on the funding source and cannot be guaranteed. See our Funding Options page for more detail.
Atlas’s current services are nonmedical. We do not diagnose, prescribe, provide nursing care, or deliver medical treatment. Our Early Steps program is still in development; contracting and payer enrollment are in progress, and we are not yet accepting Early Steps referrals.
We can explore a plan based on your child’s current skills and support needs. We use age-respectful materials and meaningful goals while adjusting the teaching steps, pace, communication supports, and activities. We review fit and safety with each family before starting.
Tell us what happens, what helps, and any safety needs during intake. We plan predictable routines, communication supports, choices, breaks, and adapted activities. Education Navigators do not provide behavior therapy or replace a clinical plan. We assess whether we can support the student safely and may coordinate with providers with your permission.
Atlas provides supplemental, individualized education support. We are not a school campus or school of record. Homeschooling families can use sessions alongside their own learning plans, and families may use Atlas alongside other schooling. Parents remain responsible for their child’s schooling arrangements.
Atlas is a mobile service with Lake County as our primary active service area. Education sessions take place in family homes, and some plans include community activities. We are not a walk-in school or clinic. Contact us to check availability in your area.
No. You can ask about education and family navigation without a diagnosis or an established school program. We begin with what your child can do now and what your family wants to build toward. Particular funding sources may have separate eligibility requirements.
Complete the family intake or book a consultation. We’ll discuss goals, support needs, location, funding, and availability before proposing a plan. Timing depends on fit, staffing, and any required authorization; an inquiry does not guarantee an immediate start or set schedule.
